Last year, the LSU Tigers defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes to win the 2023 women’s basketball national championship. One of the big storylines heading into the game, and certainly afterward, involved LSU’s Angel Reese and Iowa’s Caitlin Clark.
After the game, there was a lot of controversy and discussion around gestures that Reese made towards Clark, with the presumption being that they didn’t like one another.
However, both Reese and Clark clarified in the days after that there was no personal drama and they were just competitors enjoying the rivalry of the game.
As the 2023-2024 women’s college basketball season approaches and both teams are expected to compete for another national title, Reese was asked about her feelings towards Clark and if anything had changed.
Not only did Reese say she’s a big fan of Clark but she hoped that perhaps one day they could play together in the WNBA.
“I love Caitlin… One day, hopefully, we could even be teammates,” Reese said.
Reese’s wholehearted appreciation of Clark, whom she’ll probably have to go up against on the court again this season, garnered some strong reactions from the basketball world.
The WNBA recently announced a new expansion team in the San Francisco Bay Area. A lot of people are going to wonder if one or both of these talented players might end up there eventually.
