When the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight was confirmed and announced, just about everyone assumed Mayweather would wipe the floor with McGregor. But while we all figured Mayweather would win, we thought there might be a chance McGregor could pull a surprise.
After watching video of McGregor training, I am now 100% positive there’s no chance he is beating Mayweather.
I’m not a boxing analyst but even I can tell McGregor is incredibly slow to the punch. Unless this is an elaborate attempt to lower everybody’s expectations, why is this being posted? Just everything about his fighting style is slow, deliberate and easily read, and two months of continuous training isn’t going to solve that. Especially when we see something like this out of Mayweather.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison:
This fight is going to suck because the fighter who is fighting in his own element is going to dominate. Both Mayweather and McGregor are some of the best fighters in the world—if they were going in the cage, Mayweather would have no chance. And since they’re going in the boxing ring, McGregor has no shot. That’s why this fight is such a terrible idea in the first place.
But since boxing has been going downhill since Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield’s ear 20 years ago, I guess something like this can’t possibly hurt the sport any more than it is already hurt. I’m definitely not going to pay for the fight, but I will probably go see it at a bar somewhere just to see the pageant of the transmundane that is this fight. Because who knows, maybe this happens and McGregor actually wins.
