There’s finally some good news coming out of Rams camp.
Head coach Sean McVay said on Wednesday that quarterback Matthew Stafford will be a full participant at practice after dealing with a right thumb injury that left him out of the Week 9 20-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
The 15-year veteran suffered the injury against the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 29, and luckily it didn’t require an injured reserve stint.
The loss of their quarterback was one thing, and the team managed to bring on free-agent quarterback Carson Wentz as a backup option, but another injury update could prove detrimental.
With all those years in the league, Stafford certainly knows how to handle injury. But he already was asked about his future plans post-NFL on Wednesday during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
He said retirement isn’t too far away.
“At this point in my career, there’s no question I’m on the tail end of it. But I do still love playing, man. It’s still too much fun on Sundays and going to work every day,” Stafford said.
McVay also announced that wide receiver Puka Nacua will be limited at practice as he deals with a knee injury. However, this does sound like a precaution and he was able to use the Week 10 bye to further his rest.
