The Kansas City Royals made headlines on Tuesday by making a huge announcement. The Royals dropped their spiffy, new stadium plans for their proposed ballpark in downtown KC.
Kansas City made the plans and spectacular imagery available to everybody on Tuesday evening.
“We are excited to share our vision for the future of Royals baseball in the heart of Kansas City,” the team said. The team posted the beautiful images on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
The Royals have called Kauffman Stadium home since 1973. “The K” has served as the Royals’ home venue and provides a great backdrop for fans who attend the game. The iconic fountains make for a fun spectacle when they illuminate from the light; generally, they look quite nice.
The new plans certainly look aesthetically pleasing. But critics, and there were a few of them, dinged the team up for not having the iconic crown logo scoreboard that Kauffman has. Or the lack of parking (granted, many teams with downtown stadiums face similar issues). Overall, though, they’re nifty. It’s a great feature to keep the iconic fountains, which were almost a necessary detail for them to maintain.
All told, we’ll see how this all comes to fruition. Royals fans appeared excited and weren’t the only ones to chime in either.
