Just a few days after the New York Jets released Dalvin Cook, the former standout running back has a new home. Cook signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, ensuring that the former FSU Seminole will play on a playoff team.
Part of the initial reason that the Jets and Cook mutually agreed to terms on his release was so that he could go pursue a playoff team. While it was unknown what the market would look like, it’s clear he had at least one suitor. Cook joins the top team in the AFC ahead of their finale vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers.
ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the news on Thursday evening. Schefter informed the world of the news on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
“Four-time Pro Bowl RB Dalvin Cook will sign for the playoffs with the Baltimore Ravens,” Schefter posted. “The Jets paid Cook $6.8 million this season, and now he will get a chance to pursue a Super Bowl appearance with the Ravens,” he continued.
Cook had a disappointing 2023 season with the Jets. He only rushed for 214 yards on just 67 carries and didn’t find the end zone once. He has 6,207 career rushing yards and 47 career rushing touchdowns. He probably won’t dress against the Steelers, but Cook could appear in the Ravens’ looming first playoff game.
