Seattle Seahawks fans weren’t expecting to need a new head coach in 2024. But January kicked off with a bang this past week. Carroll spent 14 years as the Seahawks coach until Wednesday, when the team announced he would transition to an advisory job within the organization.
Later on in the week, Carroll revealed the finer details that went behind the move. He detailed the conversations he had with people above him, including team owner Jody Allen. The now former Seahawk coach described a “difficult” situation that emerged.
“The difficult part is, if you guys could know, it’s really hard because they’re not football people,” Carroll said to Seattle Sports 710 AM, according to ESPN. “They’re not coaches, and so to get to the real details of it is really difficult for other people.”
ESPN added, “It’s not clear who aside from Allen and Carroll took part in those end-of-season meetings, though Bert Kolde is the Seahawks’ vice chair under Allen, who assumed control of the team after her brother, Paul Allen, died in October 2018.”
It seemed like a difficult situation to navigate, no matter what, but that obviously seemed to disappoint Pete. Nevertheless, this is the way it will be, so it will now prove interesting to see who will be the Seahawks’ next coach. It’s an attractive team with a lot of players that the team nailed on when they drafted them. So there’s a young core in place with an easy quarterback situation to maneuver with.
