Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers sputtered in the 2023 season. The former Alabama standout’s first year under center wasn’t great. Part of that was because Young didn’t have many viable options to throw to. Carolina acquired wide receiver Diontae Johnson earlier this offseason, which was a great start. And now, it looks like the Panthers are about to take another measure to help Young.

Next week, the Panthers will host former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Gallup. The wide receiver played six years with the Cowboys, but his tenure there appears to be over. So now, Carolina will try to swoop in and corral him into town.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported on the looming interaction between Gallup and the Panthers. The two intend to meet next week.

“As the Panthers continue to look to add weapons, source says they are bringing in former Cowboys WR Michael Gallup in for a visit next week,” Rapoport said.

Carolina traded D.J. Moore to Chicago as part of the deal to eventually get the No. 1 overall pick and draft Bryce Young. The Panthers got rid of Young’s best potential weapon when they did that. After a troublesome season, the team is at least realizing its mistakes.

Landing Gallup would be a pretty solid move as long as he stays healthy. He’s proven he can provide reliability in the lineup, which is what they surely need.

The NFL world had much to say.
