Missouri wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. was one of the team’s most productive players in 2023. After an 11-win campaign, the Tigers expect to be great again in 2024. On Thursday, they learned that they’ll go into next season with Wease aboard.
The former Oklahoma Sooner-turned-Tiger will stay in Columbia, Missouri, for one more season. Wease made the announcement of his intentions to come back to Mizzou on social media. The Mizzou Football account on X, the website formerly known as Twitter, posted his announcement.
The Mizzou Football account teased the announcement with eyeball emojis.
“And this year, I’ll be declaring for… one more year. Let’s run it back. MIZ!” Wease said in the video.
At Mizzou this season, Wease recorded 49 receptions, 682 receiving yards, and six receiving touchdowns. In his five-year career, Wease has recorded 113 receptions, 1726 yards, and 16 receiving touchdowns. He’s been a perfectly productive college wide receiver and Mizzou will be happy to have him around again. He’ll tag team with Luther Burden III, who many suggest is one of the best underclassmen in the nation.
Mizzou will be a dangerous team next season. After an 11-win season, and a lot of quality players returning to Columbia, Mizzou could be a darkhorse playoff team emerging from the SEC. Time will tell to see what happens, but optimism is high in Missouri.
