As the calendar turns to December, the MLB offseason is expected to rise in intensity. As such, trade interest has reportedly swelled for two Miami Marlins starting pitchers.

MLB insider Ken Rosenthal wrote this week that Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera and southpaw Trevor Rogers have fetched interest from other teams as trade candidates. Rosenthal wrote about the rumors in his column this week on The Athletic.

Rosenthal wrote that while he believes Braxton Garrett and Jesus Luzardo are “almost certainly off-limits,” Cabrera and Rogers have been the center of trade conversations with the team if they were to make a move.

The Marlins have a need now that ace and 2022 Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara will miss the entire 2024 MLB season. They must find several ways to address their different needs, and we’ll see how that shakes out for them. Parting ways with either player could get them something in return, but both players are on the heels of injuries, so there’s no telling what they would fetch.

Still, it appears you might need to pay attention to Miami this winter as activity might arise. The MLB offseason figures to be one of the most active and captivating in a while due to the high-stakes Shohei Ohtani Sweepstakes. Time will only tell to see how busy and chaotic things get.
