The success of women’s sports continues to take over happy hour.
Another women’s sports bar is slated to open in July in the Long Beach, Calif. area.
The idea for Watch Me was created by Jax Diener and Emme Eddy to bring people together who have a knack for sports, just like the owners.
“It’s giant right now! This has been going on for many, many years, bubbling under the surface. And now we are finally getting our day,” Diener told NBC Los Angeles. “Now, we are filling stadiums, we are filling arenas.”
The idea has been brewing for 30 years, Diener said.
While they will have local sports on the televisions in the bar, the dedication will be toward women’s sports.
“95% women’s sports. We love the Dodgers, and we are NHL fans, so we will have that on, too. But most of the TVs will have women’s sports,” said Diener.
“I think it’s exactly what California needs,” said Eddy. “I think it will be the first. I think there will be many more.”
Watch Me, which is named after women having to prove doubters what they’re capable of, is one of a few select bars of its kind to open up across the United States.
The perfectly named A Bar of Their Own, opened up in March in Minnesota. Just two years after The Sports Bra, opened in April 2022 in Portland, Ore., which brought in over $944,000 in revenue in the first eight months of its conception.
