New Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams appeared poised and fearless on Friday. The new Bears signal-caller addressed the media for the first time as a member of the team after being selected first overall Thursday night in the 2024 NFL Draft.

It’s safe to say that Williams won over many supporters with his address.

The former Southern Cal quarterback, joined by new teammate Rome Odunze, a star wide receiver out of Washington, spoke highly of his new situation in front of Bears reporters Friday afternoon.

Williams was emphatic about how he felt going into the 2024 NFL season with his new team. “I’m here, Rome is here, Keenan [Allen] is here, top 5 defense is here, special teams is here, we’re here… no need to duck, we’re here,” Williams said.

It doesn’t sound like Williams lost any of his confidence over the past few months. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner is one of the best quarterback prospects in recent memory.

He will be tasked with attempting to break a vicious cycle of Bear quarterbacks that dates back decades—several decades, if anything.

Whether he does or he doesn’t, it sounds like he won’t have anything except confidence installed. That kind of confidence is very contagious. So, perhaps good tidings are finally on the way in the Windy City. Bears fans have waited eons, and maybe they won’t have to wait much longer.
